The Silent Farewell
/The supernatural represents a realm beyond human understanding, where emotions and spirits transcend physical existence. In moments of death, the boundary between life and the unknown blurs, and emotions like fear, guilt, and anxiety evolve into lingering forces. *The Silent Farewell* explores how these emotions persist, haunting the space between life and death, existing in an ethereal, unseen world.
————
A body lies, swathed in white,
its form now still,
its face once soft and warm,
now turned to cold stone,
emotionless—
the sleep of eternal rest.
Above it, the air hums with rituals,
chants,
prayers,
but it is not the sacred words that linger—
it is the unseen ones,
the emotions that have always been close,
now gathered at the threshold of the unknown.
Fear stands at the head,
its presence dark and heavy,
a reminder of the inevitable.
Stress curls like smoke,
tightening around the chest,
its grip never loosening.
Anxiety hovers at the feet,
whispering of what might come,
what may never come.
Guilt stands to the side,
its eyes hollow with remorse,
the weight of every unspoken word.
Anger clenches its fists,
eyes narrowed,
refusing to let go.
Insecurity lingers in the corners,
unseen but felt,
a trembling pulse in the silence.
And Jealousy,
its form shifting,
mocks the stillness,
longing for what the body cannot take with it.
They all bow their heads,
mourning not just the soul,
but the loss of their bond,
their time together.
Fifty years of existence,
of shared moments,
now ending.
“Why do they not understand?”
they murmur in a breathless chorus.
“They spend their lives
chasing what they cannot keep,
fighting battles that do not matter.
They never seek peace,
never find quiet in their hearts.”
As the body is lifted to the flames,
the emotions dissolve into the air,
their forms breaking apart,
searching.
The soul moves on,
and they—
they wait,
like shadows that never leave,
always following,
always seeking.
